Calces was not always the empire it became. Long ago its people lived alongside the great ecosystems of Oneiro. Stories were shared around fires, the movements of animals shaped calendars, and forests were places of knowledge rather than resources. The world was experienced as a living presence, not as a collection of assets.
Over generations, this relationship changed. The discovery of powerful stones buried beneath the earth transformed society. Prosperity followed, cities expanded, and the desire to understand the world gradually became the desire to master it. By the time Elaya is born, few remember what has been lost.
This dream lives inside every silence. The dream of saving Oneiro. Not forever. Simply to make life live again.
The
Encounter
The turning point arrives during a royal hunt. By tradition, every heir to the throne must venture into the Chymos forest and confront the creature that inhabits its depths. The ritual is meant to prove courage. In truth it is closer to a sacrifice. Abandoned by her father and separated from her escort, Elaya finds herself alone beneath the ancient canopy.
Then she sees it. The Momnou, a creature spoken of only in warnings and legends, an animal so old that it seems to belong to another age of the world. Everything she has been taught tells her to be afraid. Yet the encounter unfolds differently. The creature approaches. It studies her. And then, impossibly, it speaks.

Exists
At its heart, Elaya is a story about relationship. It explores what happens when a person raised in a culture of control encounters a world built on connection. Drawing on mythology, ecology and folklore, it approaches questions that feel increasingly urgent: what have we forgotten in our pursuit of power, what becomes possible when we rebuild our bond with the living world, and can stories help us imagine futures that feel desirable rather than merely sustainable?
Rather than offering answers, Elaya invites the reader to take the same journey as its protagonist. A journey from separation toward belonging.
